Metamoris Logo Reveal — Motion Identity
Role: Motion Designer & 3D Animator
Project Type: Sports Branding / Event Intro Animation
The Concept
Metamoris is a premier submission-only jiu-jitsu tournament. For this project, I wanted to create a title reveal that goes beyond basic logo movement and actually captures the physical mechanics of a grappling match.
The Metamoris logo mark is a triangle—a direct nod to the "triangle choke," one of the most fundamental and effective submissions in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I used this geometric shape as the foundation for the entire motion concept.
The Motion Design & Metaphor
The Setup (The Fight): The animation begins in darkness with heavy, textured, metallic fragments of the triangle slowly drifting and assembling.
The Constriction (Locking it In): As the fragments pull closer, the movement slows down, mimicking the deliberate, crushing pressure of a submission hold tightening around an opponent. The tension builds as the gaps close.
The Ignition (The Finish): Once the triangle is fully locked, the internal friction and pressure ignite. Glowing, molten heat bursts through the seams of the logo, shifting the texture from cold iron to a hot ember.
The Release (The Transition): To resolve the high tension and transition out of the ident, the fully charged triangle flares up and flies directly into the camera, creating a high-impact transition.
Visual Aesthetic
I went with a dark, medieval, and industrial aesthetic to match the gritty tone of the invitational. By pairing heavy stone and weathered metal textures with a warm, fiery internal glow, the final piece feels weighty, dangerous, and high-stakes—just like the tournament itself.
